Siddhant Bhatia: The Vision Behind the Sound

Delhi-based singer, composer, and music producer Siddhant Bhatia has brought immense pride to India with his Grammy 2025 nomination for his album “Sounds of Kumbha” in the Best Global Music Album category. Joining fellow Indian nominees Anoushka Shankar and Shakti, led by Shankar Mahadevan, Bhatia’s achievement highlights India’s growing presence on the world music stage.

Featuring 12 soulful tracks and over 50 global artists, including Grammy winners and nominees, Sounds of Kumbha is a heartfelt musical tribute to the Mahakumbh held in Prayagraj in 2025. The album beautifully captures the divine atmosphere of India’s grandest spiritual gathering, blending ancient chants, temple bells, and devotional sounds with modern arrangements to create a truly timeless experience.

Speaking to HT City, Siddhant Bhatia shared, “It’s a very joyous moment for the entire country, as we created the album for the Mahakumbh. It showcases our culture, tradition, and heritage and now the entire world is knowing about it. The nomination and global recognition for the album is a very big win for our spirituality.”

Through Sounds of Kumbha, Bhatia has not only represented India at the Grammy Awards 2025 but also carried forward the country’s spiritual legacy through music that transcends borders and touches hearts worldwide.

A Global Collaboration with an Indian Soul

Rooted deeply in Indian culture yet carrying a global sound, Sounds of Kumbha stands out as a musical bridge between tradition and modernity. The album features soulful tracks in Sanskrit, Hindi, and English, all recorded in the natural, spiritually charged environment of the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj.

I like capturing sound in its natural habitat,” shares Siddhant Bhatia, explaining the creative process behind the project. “We recorded temple bells, the flowing river, and the divine atmosphere as the festival began around Makar Sankranti it was truly a spiritually immersive experience.”

Commissioned by the Uttar Pradesh Government in collaboration with Network18, the project was officially released during the Mahakumbh 2025 on the state government’s channel.

The album’s impressive lineup features celebrated global artists, including Ron Korb, Jim ‘Kimo’ West (2020 Grammy winner), Charu Suri, Madi Das, Raja Kumari, Kanika Kapoor, Aditya Gadhvi, and Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who recites a powerful shloka, “Ram Ram.” Blending classical melodies, devotional chants, and modern rap, Sounds of Kumbha beautifully showcases the diversity and unity of India’s spiritual music tradition.

Adding to the celebration, co-producer Charu Suri has also earned a Grammy nomination this year for her album Shayan in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album category, making 2025 a double triumph for the collaborators and Indian music worldwide.

A Musical Offering to the Divine

Trained in the Patiala Gharana, Siddhant Bhatia is a devoted disciple of Ustad Jawaad Ali Khan, grandson of the legendary Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. His musical foundation is deeply rooted in classical tradition, yet his vision extends beyond boundaries. Having studied audio engineering in Australia and conducted research on healing frequencies, Bhatia beautifully merges science and spirituality proving that sound can be both an art and a form of energy healing.

Reflecting on his two-decade-long journey, he shares, “As a composer-singer, I’ve been working for 20 years. We’ve earned around 54 advertisement awards and had four Grammy submissions, including the multi-artist album Ananta in 2016.”
